Mrs Henry Bartol in Tryon Communication To read constantly of how "fair and open" the County Government has become under the leadership of Opal Sauve is utterly disgusting, when we know from past experience that this definitely is not true. She was very much a part of the unscrupulous scheme concerning the selection of a tax collector last year. Let us refresh your memory. Our son. Gene, was locking for a job near home, and. after much encouragement from others, applied for that postilion, which had been advertised in the newspapers We won’t go into all the sordid details except to say that his application was totally ignored with no available explanation However the reason was soon to become obvious. He has a good education (a Masters Degree in Economics) which doesn't make him any more qualified than others but did justify some consideration. Opal Sauve does not know our son and how could she have made a fair choice without interviewing all applicants? She failed completely in a good opportunity to keep her promise to helping the young people, yet she has the audacity to base her campaign on the statement “she helped to bring the County’s business from behind closed doors and give everyone an equal opportunity '' As for the emphasis on advertising, why bother, when the jobs are automatically going to Commissioner's friends No Continued On Back Page Lake Lure Lions At the last meeting the Lake Lure Lions Club president Frederick H. Wescoe presented a check of $200 to Dr. Wm. H. Burch who is Chief of the Lake Lure Volunteer Fire Dept. This is one of several local projects the Lake Lure Lions help support. Chief Burch gave a talk on the history and function of the fire department.
